Construction Manufacturing Engineer – KTP ASSOCIATE

24 month Fixed Term Contract Subject to experience

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or related graduate to fast-track their career development as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate in a dynamic role looking to develop and implement new processes and products in the manufacture of affordable volumetric houses.

The successful candidate will undertake a 24 month collaborative project between The McAvoy Group Ltd (an offsite construction specialist since 1972), and the School of Built Environment at the University of Salford. Based in Dungannon, Northern Ireland, you will be supported by experienced staff from McAvoy Group and the University of Salford. The post holder will require a range of technical as well as considerable interpersonal skills to deliver and embed new capability in volumetric manufacturing for housing, coupled with the associated interrelated businesses processes and data sources. They will develop strong process and information management skills, statistical and data analytics expertise as well as data visualisation techniques. In addition, working on a project of this magnitude in close contact with other staff, the Associate will acquire valuable interpersonal and communication skill and the ability to negotiate with senior management.

The KTP Associate will receive a competitive salary, extensive practical and formal training, gain highly desirable specialist business skills, broaden knowledge and expertise within an industrially relevant project, and gain valuable experience from commercial and academic mentors. The Associate will also benefit from a Personal Development Budget of £4,000 and will have the opportunity to register free of charge for a postgraduate research qualification, such as a PhD with the work undertaken in the KTP.

Skills required: Candidates should possess a degree with a minimum of a 2.1 or a higher degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or closely related discipline. A master’s degree, although desirable, is not essential.
